Save the Date: Meet and Greet the GO 31.10.2023

We are delighted to invite you to save-the-date for a Meet & Greet with the Global Observatory and our partners on Tuesday, 31 October 2023  from 09:00am to 11:00 am at the MSI ⸱ Avenue de Rhodanie 54  1007 Lausanne ⸱ Switzerland.  At this event you will hear more about our work and exchange ideas on how we can collaborate.  Kindly register here.

The Global Observatory is keen to  connect with and foster its partnerships with strategic stakeholders – expanding our network and allies within and beyond the sport ecosystem to inspire and mobilize support to advance the rights, health and empowerment of girls and women in all their diversity. We welcome Executive Directors/CEOs or officials responsible for gender equality, equity and inclusion or human resources to join us at the meet and greet event.

Physical Education, Physical Activity and Sport (PEPAS) provide tremendous – often untapped – potential and opportunities to advance the empowerment, health and overall well-being of women and girls in all their diversity. The physical, psychological, intellectual, social and economic benefits provided by PEPAS to women and girls and the development of societies overall, are increasingly being recognized. PEPAS has the power to mobilise and unify communities across countries, socio-cultural, economic, gender, and political boundaries, and can convey important messages, including on sensitive issues to mass audiences.

Recognizing the urgent need for collective and coordinated action, The Global Observatory for Gender Equality and sport (The Global Observatory) was established in July 2021. At this phase the Global Observatory is an incubating association based in Lausanne – The Olympic Capital -  under the auspices of UNESCO. The Global Observatory is supported by the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAE) and partners include the Canton of Vaud, the City of Lausanne and the University of Lausanne (UNIL).

The Global Observatory was created as an outcome of the UNESCO 4th International Conference of Ministers and Senior Officials Responsible for Physical Education and Sport (MINEPS IV) in 2003, and confirmed in 2017, at MINEPS VI, within the framework of the Kazan Action Plan (KAP), endorsed by more than a 100 Member States and reaffirmed at MINEPS VII in 2023.

Come and exchange with us about gender equality, girls, women and sport+

Kindly register here by 25 October 2023.
