The 123rd International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session in Durban, declared ‘that the promotion of women and gender equality within the Olympic Movement were a means of assessing good governance. In this connection, the “Basic Universal Principles of Good Governance” document was modified to emphasise the need for women’s presence on decision making bodies’.
