Second United Nations (UN) Global Conference for Women, Copenhagen. Governments met to assess the progress made since the first World Conference (see 1975) and to outline actions for the second half of the Decade for Women (see 1976). Education, employment and health were added as sub-themes. Pendukini Ivula-Ithana (see 1998) stated that she did not see women and sport mentioned. A Programme of Action was produced, endorsed, and led to the ratifying on an international treaty (see 1981). At the concurrent non-governmental organisations Forum, 8,000 people met to discuss the conference themes as well as wages for housework, appropriate technology and women’s studies.
