Sixth World Conference on Women and Sport, Helsinki, organised by the International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG) titled ‘Lead the Change, Be the Change’. Attended by over 800 participants from 100 countries, the conference celebrated the twenty years of progress since the Brighton Conference (see 1994 May) but also recognised that similar issues that affect women and girls in sport continue to exist. To reflect issues to have emerged in the previous two decades, the legacy of the conference is The Brighton Plus Helsinki 2014 Declaration on Women and Sport.
