The Brooklands Automobile Racing Club (BARC) (see 1908) accepts women’s entries for its meetings and hosts its first women-only event (see 1934; see 1935). This year also saw the formation of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) who, along with the Royal Automobile Club (RAC), only afforded women and ‘foreigners’ the lesser associate membership status.
