The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board agrees to recommend to the next General Meeting that it ‘intensify without delay the promotion of the presence of women within sport and its technical and administrative structures’ by introducing gender targets for national federations. A proposal of 10% of seats on decision-making bodies being occupied by women in the year 2000 and 20% by the year 2005 are planned (see 1995 Oct). The Brighton Declaration (see 1994 May) is also supported. This is all despite a meeting earlier in the year (see 1995 Apr) where women and sport leadership as a topic seemed to have been dropped.
