The United Nations (UN) Division for the Advancement of Women, WomenSport International (WSI) and International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG) partner to produce a publication entitled ‘Women 2000 and Beyond: Women, gender equality and sport’ and it is launched during the Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) meeting in New York, USA. It is the first time in history that a UN publication focuses singularly on women and sport.
