United Nations Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (UNCEDAW) adopted by the UN General Assembly as an international treaty, in part from work undertaken at the second UN Global Conference for Women (see 1980). Article 10 and 13 both state that women and men should have the same opportunities to participate in sports, physical education and recreational activities.
