The Global Observatory for Gender Equality & Sport (GO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting gender equality within sports and leveraging the power of sports to drive broader societal change. The statistics are clear: 85% of adolescent girls worldwide do not get enough physical activity. As girls grow older, their participation in sports and physical exercise declines, often due to systemic barriers and safety concerns. Research indicates that women and girls face higher risks of gender-based violence in sports settings, with perpetrators often being men in positions of power, such as coaches, managers, and medical staff. Inequalities also persist in leadership roles, where women face limited opportunities, lower salaries, and reduced media visibility compared to their male counterparts. 

The gaps are significant, and the need for progress is urgent.

Sport+, which encompasses Physical Education, Physical Activity, and Sport, holds immense and often untapped potential to empower women and girls of all backgrounds.
