African Union adopts Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls

The African Union (AU) has officially adopted the Convention on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls, marking a historical advancement in the protection of women and girl’s rights across the continent.

This legally binding instrument aims to address all forms of violence including: physical, psychological, economic, and digital. The convention also aims to strengthen  accountability, justice, and the dignity of women and girls.

The GO applauds this bold and necessary step foward in advancing gender equality and human rights.
