New Research: Sexual & GBV against Women in Sport in East Africa

The Graduate School of Media and Communications of Aga Khan University has launched the East African Gender Data and Policy Report 2024. Report which offers a comprehensive overview of key gender indicators in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Based on national data, it reveals persistent gender disparities across sectors. Women remain underrepresented in political leadership, there are gaps in access to education, healthcare, and financial inclusion, especially in rural areas. It also underscores that, despite some progress in policy commitments, there is a need for sustained, targeted interventions. Finally, clear, region-specific recommendations are offered to support evidence-based policymaking.

This report constitutes a much needed contribution to insights and resources for the fight against gender-based violence in the sport+ ecosystem.
