IOC publishes new Consensus Statement on Interpersonal Violence and Safeguarding in Sport

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) consensus statement on interpersonal violence and safeguarding in sports highlights the prevalence, impact, and complexities of violence in sports. Using a socioecological model, it recommends athlete-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative approaches to improve safeguarding. Combining evidence with athletes’ perspectives, it aims to guide research, policy, and interventions for safer, more inclusive sports environments globally.
